Lumbering on clumsily with my heavy armour, tower shield and broadsword, i neared the fort as every second came and passed.
After what seemed like 2 whole days of wandering endlessly through a dead plain, I reached the banner carrier of the main phalanx. He lifted his banner, waved it twice and immediately an ominous black knight rumbled towards us.
I did what i knew i had to do. As he drew he sword, I hastily whipped out a long golden scroll holster and handed it to him.
As if expecting it, he took it immediately and looked through its contents.
And ordered me to be brought into the fort. About 6 other foreign warriors had the same fate.
It seemed as if we were just on time; the phalanx closed in on either side of us, and as soon as we entered through the titanic 10 metre thick steel gates, the entire phalanx created an impenetratable wall of shield and spear.
I have heard many stories about the fort, and its splendeur and grandeur, but of course as many legionnaires would say, they would all like to see it for themselves. Heard also about the very fine warriors found within its walls, indeed, i became quite eager to meet some of them, and perhaps even be offered a place in their legions.
My first impression of the great fort was based upon its infrastructure and walls.
Clearly there were signs that showed that this fort was built in ancient times, yet with defenses modern enough to force me to believe that this fort had been constantly repaired and countless additions were made to ensure the survival of its people.
I was led through its fine walkpaths and several heavily defended gates and was soon brought to their townsquare.
Several legions were already present, but there was a distinct difference in their rank. One flank wore light - looking armour, carrying small swords and small shields. They looked uniform and looked like the lowest rank of the fort's army.
The next flank wore heavy armour which was uniform as well, but carried large tower shields, and were armed with both broadswords and immensely long spears. They looked as if they were one of the highest ranks in the army.
Then there was one flank that wore impressively unique armour, with weapons and shields totally different from each other. I learnt later that they were called the International Baccaluareate Elite Guard, and that they were the highest non-commander ranks in the whole of the fort. It was that very flank i had applied to, and was accepted.
We start training next week.
